WOW Air Is Launching $199 Flights From the U.S. to India

For price conscious Indian travellers, global air travel is becoming more affordable.

Rapidly expanding Icelandic LCC WOW Air has started its strategic shift toward Asia, firming plans to launch flights between Reykjavik in Iceland and Delhi in India.

In a promotion, Wow is selling a total of 4,200 one-way seats to India for just $199.

The airline now serves 39 destinations across Europe and North America including London, Paris, New York, Toronto, Baltimore, San Francisco and Chicago.

A Wow Air flight will take off from Delhi early morning; take about 11 hours to reach Reykjavic and another six hours to Washington after a two and a half hour layover, posing a fierce challenge to Gulf airlines which have wrestled a major share of India's West-bound traffic with cheaper fare and convenient onward connecting flights via Dubai, Abu Dhabi.

'We are passionate about continuing our mission of enabling everybody to fly by making worldwide travel accessible and affordable for all, and look forward to expanding our global service to provide travellers with the opportunity to see many parts of the globe, whether for business or pleasure'. The airline offers seating options, ranging from basic economy to premium.

Service will be available through nine airports including St. Louis Lambert International Airport and Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

Wow Air will have five direct flights a week between New Delhi and Keflavik airport in Iceland that will connect to several destinations in North America and Europe using Airbus A330neo aircraft, starting 7 December. WOW's will be the first long haul low cost route in and out of India.
