Mohamed Salah shrugs off injury to join Egypt training

Salah told reporters on Sunday that he expected to play against Uruguay, before he flew to Russian Federation with the rest of the Egyptian squad.

Salah sustained the injury in clash with Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos in the Champions League final in May 26th, casting a doubt over his hopes of leading the Egyptian challenge at Russian Federation 2018.

Team director Ihab Lahita was cagey about Salah's progress, saying there was no guarantee he would play in Egypt's Group A opener against Uruguay on Friday.

For the team itself, the Salah-Kadyrov handshake was far less important than whether their star will recover from a shoulder injury to feature in Egypt's opening match against Uruguay on Friday in Ekaterinburg.

The Egyptian scored 44 goals for Liverpool in 2017/18 in what was a truly remarkable season for the speedy winger. "We hope he will be with us for the Uruguay match".

Officially, The Pharaohs chose Grozny as Egypt's camp although it is not hosting any matches in the tournament to keep a low profile, away from the media, as they prepare to make their World Cup finals return after an absence of 28 long years.

Uruguay are the favourites in Group A, which also includes hosts Russian Federation and Saudi Arabia, who kick off the World Cup on June 14. So I thought to myself, I have quite a few games to play before the end of the season, I can break the all-time record!
