The president initially said that his hands were tied and that he was just following the law passed by Congress.

Republican Rep. Mike Coffman called on President Donald Trump to fire top adviser Stephen Miller.

Coffman's singling out of Miller perhaps represents the GOP wanting to distance itself further from the more fringe actors in Trump's administration, who all too often have been deeply influential.

"So it is fair to assume he would support the public's right to call (or text) Stephen Miller", the author wrote.

One of the two immigration bills up for consideration already failed on the House floor Thursday afternoon. ".Donald Trump is put in a bad situation.because the permanent political class in this city has not wanted to address this". More than 2,000 children have been separated from their parents.

Miller is supposedly the architect of the Trump administration's "zero-tolerance" immigration policy.

Miller grew up in a liberal Jewish family in Santa Monica, California, where even as a high school student he gained a reputation for relishing policies that irked the left. He previously worked for Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who spearheaded the launch of the new "zero-tolerance" prosecutions against families.

This isn't the first time that Miller's hard-line immigration policy has caused controversy. He also was credited with upending a DACA deal that Trump had struck with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Miller, a 32-year old White House aide, is reportedly the author of some of the Trump administration's most controversial immigration policies, including the most recent "zero-tolerance" practice of prosecuting all adults who cross the USA border illegally and separating them from their children in the process.

Miller responded that while the statue is "a symbol of American liberty lighting the world", the poem, which was affixed to the statue after it went up, "is not actually a part of the original Statue of Liberty".

If you assume that the White House is planning to retreat from its aggressive immigration policy in the face of all the recent public blowback, have I got bad news for you.
