Xiaomi All Set To Launch Redmi Y2 In India On 7th June

As mentioned earlier, the device is being branded as a selfie-phone. The device will be an Amazon India exclusive just like its predecessor and will officially go on sale starting 12 June at 12pm (IST).

Apart from the launch of Xiaomi Redmi Y2, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has also launched the MIUI 10 globally during the same event. The company will be live streaming the event on its YouTube page, and even has a placeholder on its official website.

The latest Snapdragon processors released in 2018 includes the Snapdragon 845 (OnePlus 6), and the Snapdragon 710. However, Redmi Note 5 has a Full HD display which is 1080p resolution and thus higher than the Redmi Y2.

In favourable lighting conditions, it's the M1 that comes out on top thanks to its colours being more vibrant. The 3GB variant will be available for Rs. 9,999 and the 4GB RAM variant will be available for Rs. 11,999, exclusively from Amazon India. It is said to feature a 5.84-inch full HD+ screen with 19:9 aspect ratio. It will be powered by a 2GHz octa-core CPU.

The specifications of the Redmi 6A were leaked via TENNA recently as well. The Redmi Note 5 is an overall more rounded choice, but with its single-camera setup, it may not be the phone for everyone.

The rest of the specifications are identical for all the model numbers. Also, it's the cheapest phone in the Indian market, right now, to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor. It features a dedicated slot for microSD card. In fact, it has the same vertical dual camera setup on the back & a rear-facing fingerprint scanner.

The smartphone has 12-megapixel primary camera and 20-megapixel secondary camera. The type of sensors that will be used is not clear as of now. The battery is unchanged from the last year's model but the inclusion of a more efficient SoC and MIUI system optimizations means the device should provide longer battery life compared to its predecessor. The rebranded device has already been launched as S2 a few months ago in China. Although, the tweet does not directly name the device, it carries the tag line, "the best selfie smartphone", which seemingly suggests the Redmi S2 is coming to India on June 7. The Xiaomi Mi 8 is priced competitively in China and should the company launch it at a similar price in India, the Mi 8 could give the OnePlus 6 a run for its money.
