Charles Oakley arrested for allegedly cheating at Vegas casino

The agency said Oakley is suspected of "adding to or reducing his wager" on a game after the outcome was known.

According to TMZ, the former Knicks star was arrested at the Cosmopolitan casino in Las Vegas on Sunday after he allegedly tried to pull back a $100 chip when he realized he was going to lose his bet.

Oakley was reportedly confronted after being caught.

The 54-year-old was taken into custody at 5:30 PM and booked into Clark County Detention Center. A source close to Oakley, who is the head coach of the Killer 3's in the BIG3 basketball league, told TMZ it's "an insignificant matter that will be quickly resolved".

Oakley was recently cleared of misdemeanor assault charges stemming from a scuffle with Madison Square Garden security guards previous year in which he was violently ejected from the stadium during a game. Oakley got in a fight with a security guard, causing a pause in the game, before being dragged away. Oakley was charged with misdemeanor assault and trespassing, among other charges.Oakley later agreed to a plea deal to have the charges dropped and subsequently filed the civil suit. Playing alongside Patrick Ewing in New York, Oakley would go on to earn an All-Star selection and an All-Defensive first team nod while establishing himself as one of the NBA's toughest rebounders. The charges against Oakley were later cleared as part of an agreement, which included banning him from the arena for a year.

The 19-year NBA veteran now is serving as head coach of the Killer 3s in the Big3 summer basketball league.
