Liverpool sign Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City

The Switzerland worldwide became the club's third new arrival of the summer today when he completed a medical and penned a long-term contract at Melwood.

The German wasted no time in starting his transfer business, bringing in Brazilian midfielder Fabinho from Monaco while Naby Keita completed his long-awaited move from RB Leipzig.

Liverpool face fresh competition to close the signing of Stoke City attacker Xherdan Shaqiri.

Talks between Stoke and Liverpool over a £13million deal advanced in recent days and the 26-year-old winger has been unveiled as the club's third signing of the summer transfer window.

Shaqiri can operate in an advanced role across midfield as well as in the front three, which will enhance Jurgen Klopp's ability to rotate his forwards.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with Shaqiri in recent months and TeamTalk reported earlier this week that Manchester United had joined their rivals in the race to sign the Switzerland worldwide.

Jurgen Klopp has identified the Switzerland winger as one who can inject pinch of quality and bolster his attacking options, while the presence of a release clause in Shaqiri's contract makes a deal a financially attractive one.

The Swiss global attracted interest from across Europe following Stoke's Premier League relegation but is keen to stay in the English top flight.

Shaqiri wears the No. 23 for Switzerland and could well adopt the number vacated by Emre Can on his new venture at Juventus.

Shaqiri revealed his delight at moving to Anfield, claiming that he was eager to work with Klopp and play for such a big club.
