Novak Djokovic blasts unfair treatment during Wimbledon quarter-final win

Novak Djokovic blasts unfair treatment during Wimbledon quarter-final win

Either Rafael Nadal or Juan Martin del Potro will provide the next hurdle on Friday.

"It's feels great to be in the last four of a slam", Djokovic said.

It will be Djokovic's first Grand Slam semi-final since the 2016 US Open as he continues his bid to return to the top of the game.

The 12-time major victor prevailed despite picking up two code violations and accusing umpire Carlos Ramos of "double standards".

The issues began in the third set when Djokovic was handed a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct for bouncing his racket into the grass behind the baseline on tennis's most famous centre court.

"I think the first warning was unnecessary", said Djokovic, who was sanctioned in the second set for spearing his racquet into the court.

'I didn't harm the grass.

That didn't seem to affect his focus, though, and neither did a time violation he was given when serving at 4-2, 30-30 in the fourth set.

It didn't show in Djokovic's play, though, as he embarked upon another swing of four games in succession, holding Nishikori to three points in his next two service sets as he soared into a 4-1 lead.

He then failed to convert three crucial break opportunities on Djokovic's serve at 2-2 in the third set, giving away the game and then his next two serves to hand the Serb his second set. I get the warning, he doesn't - it's not fair.

Nishikori, who had won only two matches in 15 meetings with the 12-time major victor, broke for 1-0 in the fourth but was broken straight back.

"Double standards, my friend", screamed the former world number one.

When Nishikori then bounced his own racket against the court in the fourth set without being given a warning, Djokovic yelled out "double standards" toward the umpire's chair - drawing boos from the Centre Court crowd. During Wimbledon, speaking of the big event that is taking place in Russian Federation, in which his country, Serbia, failed to go beyond the group stages, Djokovic said: 'I support Croatia.

But the 12th seed was not to be denied as he raced into the last four, hitting an impressive 40 winners on the way.

In his first Wimbledon semifinal, Anderson will face 2016 runner-up Milos Raonic or ninth-seeded John Isner.
