Sprint follows AT&T, Verizon unlimited strategy by raising prices

Hulu is included in Sprint's Unlimited Freedom plan, alongside 10 GB of personal hotspot data per line.

The new lower-tier unlimited plan delivers less value than the current Sprint unlimited plan.

The Unlimited Basic plan is now effectively replacing Sprint's Unlimited Freedom plan at the same $60 single-line price point. Video streaming is now restricted to 480p instead of Unlimited Freedom's full 1080p access, and when it comes to mobile hotspot use, Unlimited Basic customers only have 500MB of LTE data to use compared to Unlimited Freedom's 10GB.

If you have no use for Tidal and HD streaming, and if you don't frequently use your phone as a mobile hotspot, Sprint's new and cheaper Unlimited Basic offering might be the better choice.

Unlimited Plus includes: TV you love, with Hulu.

Meanwhile, the Unlimited Basic plan trims down the features and the cost. The military plan is comparable to the unlimited basic plan but costs only $100 for four lines.

So if you bring your own phone, a single line Unlimited Plus account would be $50/mo. Lines 3 through 5 cost $30 each.

This new Unlimited Plus one costs $70 a month, a $10 increase over the carrier's previous unlimited offering. Adding a second line costs $50, subsequent lines go for $30/month.

Sprint is raising its prices amid improvement in its service in some markets, including recognition for improvement in things like voice calls. As you might have expected, they are similar to Unlimited Freedom, only with a few tweaks here and there, plus all of the throttling and non-unlimited unlimitedness you would expect from a USA carrier.

Sprint says families will be able to mix and match its new unlimited plans, opting for either Basic or Plus on different lines. Global roaming for text and data is free for 185 destinations - travelers to Canada and Mexico will get unlimited talk, text and data with up to 5GB of LTE speeds. And Sprint's 4G LTE network is the most improved in the USA with national average download speeds up 30.9 percent year-over-year, more than any other national carrier.6 Sprint is making its largest network investment in years and its Next-Gen Network build is well underway. This is an excellent plan that offers unlimited data, talk and text plus great features for only $35 per month per line for two lines.10 More great news! If you get five lines, it's $42 per month, per line. The new plans will be available starting tomorrow, July 13. "Add all of this up and there's literally never been a better time to switch to Sprint", said Draper.
