Apple removes most of Alex Jones' podcasts from iTunes

"Podcasts that violate these guidelines are removed from our directory making them no longer searchable or available for download or streaming". Last week, Facebook removed four videos on four of Jones' pages for violating its hate speech and bullying policies, according to a statement put out by the media platform.

The pages include one for Jones' flagship radio show InfoWars as well as his fan page.

In a statement to The Washington Post, Apple confirmed its decision to remove Jones' shows from its directory, a move first reported by BuzzFeed.

Apple has wiped iTunes and its podcasting app virtually clean of content by Alex Jones, in one of the most aggressive moves by technology companies and streaming services against the conspiracy theorist and owner of the right-wing media platform Infowars.

Following the recent suspension of Alex Jones' Facebook page and the removal of InfoWars podcasts from Spotify, Facebook has permanently removed multiple InfoWars pages from its site while Apple has taken steps to remove InfoWars podcasts from its podcast directory.

Mr Jones has been widely criticised for repeating conspiracy theories that the 9/11 attacks in NY were staged by the U.S. government.

Upon review, we have taken it down for glorifying violence, which violates our graphic violence policy, and using dehumanizing language to describe people who are transgender, Muslims and immigrants, which violates our hate speech policies.
"We believe in representing a wide range of views, so long as people are respectful to those with differing opinions".

He has also promoted a theory that the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre was faked by left-wing forces to promote gun control.

Several episodes of Mr Jones' show were also removed from Spotify on Thursday for violating the music app's "hate content policy".

The shooting left 26 children and adults dead at a CT elementary school.

InfoWars did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent outside business hours.

In July, YouTube removed four videos from Mr Jones' channel, which has more than 2.4 million followers. However, Facebook said that wasn't why it banned InfoWars and Jones.

Since founding Infowars in 1999, Jones has built a vast audience.

This is the first time a blanket ban has been imposed on Jones, who is now being sued by parents of children murdered in the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting for claims that the attack was a hoax.

'Alex Jones has been responsible for harassing parents of Sandy Hook children, Vegas shooting victims and threatening to kill the Special Counsel.
