NASCAR CEO Brian France charged with DUI

NASCAR CEO Brian France was arrested on Sunday in the Hamptons-area of NY for aggravated driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance, authorities said.

"Mr. France was observed operating a 2017 Lexus northbound on Main Street failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign", the news release says. He was arraigned Monday at Sag Harbor Village Justice Court and released. Officers said a traffic stop followed and they discovered France was intoxicated.

Police suspected that the NASCAR CEO was intoxicated and found oxycodone pills on his person.

TMZ Sports first reported the incident, noting that France's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

France was released just after 9 a.m. Monday.

Sag Harbor, where France was pulled over, is considered to be one of the most exclusive Hamptons communities, with stars such as Billy Joel having homes there.

At this time, neither France nor NASCAR appear to have commented on the arrest. They cite sources, which claim that France name-dropped some famous names during the arrest process, and brought up his relationship with Trump.

The France family is racing royalty - Brian's grandfather Bill France Sr.

France became CEO of Nascar in 2003.
