Samsung Galaxy Watch hands-on: Steady progress, but few thrills

Samsung's latest pen-focused flagship Galaxy Note 9, which was launched a day earlier will be available in India on Flipkart, a latest teaser on the e-commerce site suggested on Friday. That means an all-day battery (whatever that means, in technical terms), alongside 128GB and 512GB variants.

Finally, in terms of hardware, both the Bluetooth and LTE/4G versions of the Galaxy Watch pack the dual-core 1.15GHz chipset and 4GB of internal storage space. It uses the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 inside, paired with 6GB of RAM instead of 4GB the smaller S9 comes with. Samsung promises the processor is 33 per cent faster than what came before.

Gaming sensation Fortnite will be immediately available for download on recent Samsung mobile devices, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney announced at a Samsung event Thursday, marking the first time it will be playable on Android handsets.

There's no denying that the Note 9 is a polished gadget that's popping with exciting features. As with the S9 it has the variable dual-aperture system (f/1.5 and f/2.4) created to mimic the human eye, a 2x optical zoom on the secondary lens, and a dual-pixel sensor for super slow-mo video recording.

Fortnite will be available on other, non-Samsung Android devices in "the next few days", according to The Verge. It can detect if someone screws up your picture, and notifies you so you can have another go. Thanks to this connectivity option you can use the S Pen as a remote for taking selfies or group photos, slide presentation control, movie transport control and more. But that's not all. The S Pen still uses Wacom technology though, so it's just the Bluetooth that uses the battery.

The phablet also comes with an updated version of Samsung's signature S Pen, which will not only allow owners to draw with their phones but click to take selfies and interact with their phone.

"The new Galaxy Watch was designed for all lifestyles to help meet consumer needs, such as more efficient battery life to stay connected longer, and better wellness tracking to help users maintain their goals - we are delivering them with connected experiences, all at the touch of a wrist". Here's what you need to know. There's an upgraded phone with 512GB of storage and 8GB of RAM.

It really depends on how much you value Samsung's optimization on whether you think this is a worthwhile purchase - there are many phones from China especially that offer similar specs, and for far less cash.

Today Samsung announced its first smart speaker with the Bixby virtual voice assistant, the Galaxy Home The announcement was made at the company's Unpacked event in Brooklyn, New York, alongside the Galaxy Note 9 phone.

Colour-wise there's Oceaon Blue, Lavender Purple, Black, and Copper. Actual shipments will start on August 20.
