Ronaldo scores brace for Juventus

Cristiano Ronaldo on Sunday finally broke his duck for Juventus as the Portuguese forward scored the opening goal in the 2-1 win over Sassuolo for the Italian champions to maintain their ideal start to the season.

Costa's minute of madness came in stoppage time and began with him taking out Federico Di Francesco with a bad tackle, before elbowing him as they got to their feet.

Referee Daniele Chiffi awarded a yellow card, but moments later sent Costa was given his marching orders for unsportsmanlike conduct after VAR intervened, and now faces an extended ban for his behaviour.

Though Allegri felt Costa was provoked into his conduct late on at the Allianz Stadium, he also refused to use it as an excuse for the player's actions.

"Even if he was fouled, these episodes must not happen", Allegri told reporters.

Costa said on Instagram: "I would like to apologise to all of Juventus fans for this misleading reaction in today's game". "We mustn't fall for provocation. Then the other team gets back into the game, some players get irritated and that sort of thing happens".

The former Real Madrid superstar was in the best form of his life as he scored two goals for his new club after playing three games this season with scoring.

Juventus, chasing an eighth successive Serie A title, have 12 points, three ahead of Napoli.
