Today, Apple will introduce its newest iPhone lineup. A new gold colour will be available alongside last year's grey and silver.

I am on the fence about the new iPhones, simply because the iPhone X is treating me just fine nearly a year later and I'm not entirely sold on the idea of going with the bigger iPhone XS Max.

One More Thing? Whatever happens, we're going to be spending a lot of money. This is an inch bigger than the current iPhone 8 Plus.

Beyond the new iPhone models, Apple is also rumored to reveal the Apple Watch Series 4 - featuring a near bezel-less display similar to the iPhone X - as well as a new MacBook, new iPad Pro models, and new AirPods.

A low-priced version of the iPhone X, with a 6.1-inch screen, it is expected to attract mass attention.

Samsung and Huawei - who along with Apple make up the top three phone makers by market share - have already launched critically acclaimed flagship smartphones this year, placing more pressure on Apple to deliver with its latest iPhone.

It would have an OLED display with richer colors, and Wall Street is targeting a price of $1,049 or $1,099 versus the current $999 base price for the iPhone X. The new watch, positioned as a more comprehensive health device, will be able to detect an irregular heartbeat and start an emergency call automatically if it detects a user falling down, potentially appealing to older customers.

While the iPhones will be the Wednesday's main attraction, Apple's growing smartwatch business will see stage time, too.

There's still plenty we don't know about the 2018 Apple Watch, but yet another leak suggests that the new models will come in two new sizes: 40mm and 44mm.

"All signs point to Wednesday's event being one of Apple's largest launch announcements in recent years", Mr Bhikha said.

Apple sold 41.3 million iPhones in the third quarter of 2018, up slightly on the 41m sold in the same period a year ago, according to the data compiled by Bloomberg.
