‘Town’ is a New Game from Pokémon Dev, GameFreak

Confirmed as a brand new RPG, the tentatively titled Town is set in a village that has known peace for many years thanks to the protection of a great castle, until one day hostile monsters begin to appear. During this week's Nintendo Direct live stream, Game Freak showcased a brief trailer which features some of Town's gameplay and central story premise.

But one of the most interesting and understated announcements of the event was Town, a new RPG coming from Pokemon developer Game Freak. The introduction video teases that the village has a secret.

Little else was really said about the game, except that it's out in 2019. It's up to you and members of the town to save the village from destruction.

Combat looks to be strategic and players can enlist other villagers to help battle the biggest threats. Game Freak would then go outside of Nintendo's publishing, working with Sega to release Tembo the Badass Elephant and self-publishing Giga Wrecker on PC. And now it's stretching its creative muscles again with an all-new role-playing adventure for Nintendo Switch!

That's a working title, and the game is due in 2019. But it's certainly quality over quantity, so we're best waiting to see what Game Freak has in store.
